Think different – Is Google Making Us Stupid?

I definitely think differently. 10 years ago I would spend ages reading manuals, trying to understand every aspect of every method to design my media…

I'm a Matt

Not only because of apple’s campaign back in the 80′s do I think differently, but also because of Google. My quest for as much information in the shortest possible explanation there can be as changed gear. I want to know everything as quick and as easy as I can learn it. I also want to do things with the information I learn, but more and more I find myself thinking about 100 things at once.

This is a nice article explaining why this might be so:

Is Google Making Us Stupid? – The Atlantic (July/August 2008)

I think this can be related to the Continuous Partial Attention Syndrome, I’m not sure though.. my mind is now focusing on something else.. I’ll update this entry when I’ve written more about it :)

Interesting. I think we are all changing in the way we gather and use information. Working closely with education I find that students are also researching differently. There is a movement within education to stamp down on the “google” generation. Perhaps however given the way learning has changed, should education be more supportive of the new knowledge gatherers and instead give them the tools to be more discriminatory?
